The US government has a website where you can get a FREE copy of your credit report from each of the three major credit bureaus at AnnualCreditReport.com

Before rushing off to grab your report there are some limits.

Currently, you can only get ONE FREE COPY of your credit report per year from each of the credit services.

You can "order" a free copy from each credit bureau... but to get the maximum benefit look at scheduling your reports throughout the year.

Pull one report from each bureau every 4 months. I do this and it helps me keep track of things throughout the year.

When you download your report do not get upset… your credit score WILL NOT be on the report.

The calculation of your credit score is "secret information"... the bureaus work hard to make you believe you need the score and then try to sell you your score.

The truth is... You don't really need the score you need to know what makes up the score. That we'll get to in a minute.

With your credit report in hand begin looking for errors. Make notes on any information that looks incorrect or you have questions on.

Do Not Skim Over Your Report!

Take the time to go through each line and verify that the information is correct. Bruce found out the hard way...
